Kangana Ranaut to Karni Sena: I will not apologise, there's no need for an ego issue
Kangana Ranaut's magnum-opus Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is about to hit the screens. It's magnificent trailer impressed many. However, in a country like India where ideals are drawn from the prolific figures of history, it is a little too much to expect that a period drama like this will get a smooth release. Manikarnika got into trouble when the Karni Sena opposed the film and demanded a preview. In response, Kangana lashed out at them stating, "If they (Sena) don’t stop harassing then they should know I am also a Rajput and I will destroy each one of them." Agitated with Kangana's statement, leaders of Karni Sena then launched a counterattack by stating that 'they will destroy her career'.
In response to this, Kangana has once again spoken and has said that there's no need for an 'ego issue'. At a recent event, Kangana was asked whether she will apologise to Karni Sena, to which, she said, "No, I will not apologise to anyone. I never apologise for things that I have not done wrong. However, we have reassured them that the film (Manikarnika) doesn’t show anything offensive. They should support us and the film. She (Rani Lakshmibai) is India’s daughter and everyone should push that film forward. She is not a relative of mine. She is to me what she is for the entire nation."
Adding, "Ye faltu ka ego issue mere sath karne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Main yahan pe kisi ko sorry-worry kehne ke liye nahi hu." (There's no need of having an unnecessary ego issue. I am not here apologise to anyone).
Manikarni: The Queen Of Jhansi chronicles the tale of courageous Rani Laxmibai who fought for India's freedom and will release on January 25, 2019. If one recalls, last year we had Padmaavat releasing around the same time. Even then, Karni Sena tried to stall the release, but it managed to make it to the theatres and turned out to be a hit. Will Manikarnika repeat history? Let's wait and watch.
