Of late, reports were making the rounds that filmmaker Karan Johar is considering casting Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother Ishaan Khatter for the second lead in his film ‘Student Of The Year 2’. However, thanks to Karan Johar's clarification on Twitter, we now learn that it was just a grapevine after all. Ishaan Khatter won't be a part of Student of the Year 2. The filmmaker recently unveiled the first poster of the film with Tiger Shroff reclining on the title.
The film will be a sequel to Karan’s 2012 romantic comedy, ‘Student of the Year’. It marked the Bollywood debut of Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan.
The rumour was given life by a report in a newspaper which mentions a source confirming Ishaan's presence in the movie. As the rest of the media caught up with the story, Karan Johar, the producer of the movie, took to Twitter to end all speculations surrounding the project.
CLARIFICATION: Ishaan is the lead of #Dhadak directed by @ShashankKhaitan and Tiger Shroff is the Lead of #StudentOfTheYear2 directed by @punitdmalhotra ...all other cross stories floating around are baseless and untrue....
— Karan Johar (@karanjohar) November 23, 2017
He insisted that Ishaan Khatter will be the lead in Dhadak, while Tiger Shroff will headline Student of the Year 2 and there is no 'cross' story here. Dhadak is the official Hindi remake of Marathi film ‘Sairat’ and will see Ishaan pairing opposite Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor. The film is slated to release on July 6, 2018.
The original SOTY movie was directed by Karan Johar and it had launched the careers of Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. The sequel, meanwhile, will be directed by Punit Malhotra of I Hate Luv Storys fame. And Karan will don the producer’s hat this time.
