Two different genres of films released last Friday, the rom-com Luka Chuppi and the dacoit drama Sonchiriya. The former stars Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon and the latter boasts of Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar. It was expected that Luka Chuppi will take a lead at the box office as it has more of a commercial factor and that has happened. But on the other hand, Sonchiriya has been totally rejected by the audiences. It was expected that the Abhishek Chaubey directorial might work because of the positive reviews and word-of-mouth publicity but moviegoers decided to stay away from the film.
Kriti and Kartik's film took a good start at the box office and collected Rs 7.75 crore on day one and then there was no looking back for the film. It went on to show some amazing growth on Saturday and Sunday by collecting Rs 9.75 crore and Rs 13 crore respectively. In its first weekend, Luka Chuppi collected Rs 30.50 crore which is very good. Now, we wait to see how the film does on the weekdays. However, looking at the trend on weekend, we can expect it to be stable on the weekdays.

Coming to Sonchiriya, the Sushant and Bhumi starrer has managed to collect only 10% of what Luka Chuppi collected. In three days, the film has collected Rs 3.50 crores which is really bad. The film can’t go anywhere from here. It’s a disaster.
Total Dhamaal surely faced tough competition from Luka Chuppi, but went on to collect some good numbers in its second weekend. The film collected Rs 22.50 crore in the second weekend taking the 10-day total to Rs 114.74 crore. It’s a hit.
