Kangana Ranaut’s latest film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has been the talking point since its release. The actress put in much effort into making this film a reality and besides acting on it, she also co-directed portions of the film. Kangana’s film collected a modest Rs 8 crores on the first day. However, reports said that the footfalls are increasing as the day 2 collections rose to Rs 18.10 crores. But things aren’t looking bright for her. It turns out that Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has been leaked online by the infamous piracy site Tamilrockers.
However, this might not be too surprising since Tamilrockers is notorious for uploading films even before they are released. Several films such as Zero, 2.0, Maari 2, Simmba, Petta, Viswasam, The Accidental Prime Minister and others are victims of piracy. Though Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike had the makers releasing fake versions of the film in pirate forums, a copy of the film found its way to Tamilrockers. A report on Business Today said that DC’s Aquaman made it to the website even before the release.
Despite the illegal release, it seems that Manikarnika is picking up steam at the theatres. The total collections of the movie so far come to Rs 26.85 crore – that comes despite competition from Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Thackeray.
