National Award winning Manoj Bajpayee has been critically acclaimed (nationally and internationally) for his various performances. On Wednesday, he took to the micro-blogging platform - Twitter, to highlight the fact even though his films are highly acclaimed, they've never seen a nomination in the "so-called big mainstream awards" with a poster of Gali Guleiyan. The 49-year-old actor's tweet was a reaction to the 64th Vimal Filmfare Awards 2019 nomination list that was announced late on Tuesday night. "So used to the fact that all the films of mine which are highly acclaimed nationally and internationally don’t even get a place in the nominations list of so-called big mainstream awards here forget about winning, creative pursuit and exploitation continue....!"
Gali Guleiyan revolves around the journey of a man trapped within a city. The film premiered at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival and was screened at multiple film festivals. It found an audience at the 2017 MAMI Film Festival, Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, Atlanta Film Festival, 42nd Cleveland International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival and the 2018 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The psychological drama has been helmed by Dipesh Jain and stars Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami and debutant Om Singh.
Manoj Bajpayee is a recipient of two National Awards and several other accolades. That actor has worked in numerous critically acclaimed films including Aligarh, Gangs of Wasseypur, Satya, Kaun, Shool, Zubeidaa, Rajeneeti, LOC Kargil and Veer Zaara. Filmfare may have given him a miss but Manoj Bajpayee won the Best Actor award for the film at the New York Film Festival in 2018.
