One of India's most celebrated directors, Rajkumar Hirani, has found himself in the middle of a mess over the last few weeks. Among many other women who found their voice in the #MeToo movement, one of them was an assistant director who accused Hirani of sexual misconduct. With Rajkumar Hirani in the spotlight, Vidhu Vinod Chopra got dragged into the controversy too. All the Hirani’s movies like Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju have been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The producer’s next film to hit the screens is Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and recently the makers organised an event to launch the second trailer of the film. At the trailer launch, Chopra was quizzed about the allegations against Rajkumar Hirani, but he opted to keep mum.
Chopra said, “This stage here is for something else that is extremely important perhaps as important as what you are saying (#MeToo movement). So, I am saying that this opportunity you should use to talk about this issue (the movie’s concept) and that of course at the right time we will talk.” The filmmaker shied away from revealing details of the case. Speaking of Hirani, he has denied all the allegations against him. B-Town too hasn’t been much vocal about the allegations against Hirani apart from a few celebs like Sharman Joshi, Dia Mirza, etc.

In his statement, Hirani said, "I was completely shocked when these allegations were brought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it is essential to take this matter to any committee or any legal body. The complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. I want to very strongly state that this is a false malicious and mischievous story being spread with the sole intention of destroying my reputation."
