Milind Soman, the model, marathon runner and one of India’s sexiest men is in love. We are familiar with the (recently-turned) 52-year-old’s obsession with fitness and his drop-dead Greek body, however, his Instagram speaks of a blooming relationship with 18-year-old Ankita Konwar. The pictures are adorable and Soman and Ankita’s relationship is testimony to the phrase, ‘Age is just a number.’
Reports suggest that Konwar, who works as an air-hostess, is also an avid marathon runner. The running couple have ran several marathons together.
Currently holidaying in Norway, the former model isn’t shying away from letting the world know that he’s hooked.
Milind had his fair share of relationships and fall outs. He had briefly dated Indian model Madhu Sapre. In 2006, he married French actress Mylène Jampanoï, who was 26 at that time, but later divorced her. Soman was 41 at that time.
Later, Soman was also in a relationship with actress Suhana Goswami and was criticsed for their 21-year age gap.Bollywood has advocated stories of love between older men and younger women, albeit far and few in between. Superstar Big B was part of two such movies – Cheeni Kum and Nishabd. In Cheeni Kum we see a middle-aged Tabu fall in love with a much older chef played by Amitabh Bachchan. While the film is not your regular rom-com, both characters eventually end up together.
In Nishabd, we see the film deal with the attraction and love between a much younger Jiah Khan and an older Bachchan. It revolves around a man married for 27 years, falling in love with his 18-year-old daughter's friend.
The beautiful love blooming between an older Irrfan Khan and younger Nimrat Kaur through messages exchanged in a lunch box is seen in the movie The Lunchbox. A world of fantasy is built when a mistaken delivery in Mumbai's famously efficient lunchbox delivery system connects a young housewife to an older man in the dusk of his life.
Way back in the 1990s too a film ventured where few tread. Lamhe, released in 1991, deals with an older Anil Kapoor falling in love with his deceased lover’s younger daughter (both roles played by Sridevi).
These movies were progressive and ahead of its time. It reinstated the fact that love is blind and should not be bound by any restrictions.
The Soman-Konwar relationship has put the spotlight back on relationships and age gaps. Twitter particularly has not been too kind. Trolls poured in a plenty showing distaste over their relationship.
Amitabh Bachchan & Tabu were “Ageless Wonder” in Cheeni Kum bc she wasn’t a teenager, she was a mature woman. This is disgusting. https://t.co/Aq4g184kE3— Kalyani Adhav🌹 (@KalyaniAdhav) November 6, 2017

Soman opened-up about the relationship with Ankita in an interview with Tribune India.
How do good looks offset borderline cradle snatching? https://t.co/J4DnGRSd8A— KR$NA (@realkrsna) November 5, 2017
“If it’s a relationship, it’s about both the people. And I don’t consider age at all for anything whether it’s relationships, fitness or health or whatever.”
We couldn’t agree more with Milind.
