To celebrate its tenth anniversary in true ‘vogue’ style, the glamour magazine unveiled three special editions featuring the “perfect 10” of the year. Some big names from Bollywood and the fashion world made it to the covers, from the likes of Twinkle Khanna, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra, Padma Lakshmi, Russian model Natalia Vodianova or famously known as ‘Supernova’. But the big cover surprise is the captain of the Women's Cricket Team, Mithali Raj seen rubbing shoulders with Shah Rukh Khan, Nita Ambani.
Dolled up in a sultry black Johanna Ortiz jumpsuit and blown out hair, Mithali Raj looks gorgeous. The cover comes as an apt reply to trolls outraged over a recent image posted by the cricketer.

Raj presence on the cover of the magazine comes even as women’s cricket garners increasing audience considering her team’s stellar run at the recently concluded Women’s World Cup which the Indian team lost by nine runs to England. The cricketer is seen sharing the cover with two of India’s outstanding personalities. Actor Shah Rukh Khan looks dapper in an all-black tux by Raisson D'Etre and while business leader Nita Ambani aces a lace top by Elie Saab paired with Valentino trousers. Mithali Raj is the first Indian sportswoman to have a shot at featuring on Vogue India’s cover. As it was aptly pointed out by Sonam Kapoor in her Instagram post, “A perfect 10! What achievers! It's a perfect ten."

Other Indian sportswomen to have had a glam shot in the past are Sania Mirza who featured more than once in Verve, L’officiel, Outlook’s Splurge and The Juice. Saina Nehwal too glammed it up on the cover of Verve, Femina and Outlook’s Smart Life. The ace shuttler, P V Sindhu, who incidentally is missing from the Vogue cover since it talks about the women of the year, is unrecognizable on the covers of Just For Women (JFW), Grazia and on the 20 years celebratory cover of Elle. But guess they missed out on the Vogue!

Others too lived up to the theme of black on the Vogue cover perfectly suiting their personalities with the first cover featuring ‘Vogue Opinion Maker of The Year’ Twinkle Khanna in her animal print Roberto Cavalli dress. Sonam Kapoor who received an award for her fashion diva status, ‘Vogue and IWC Fashion Icon Of The Year Award’ at the Vogue Women of the Year awards held on Sunday, September 26, wore a crepe blouse with ruffles around the neckline and a sequined trousers by Osman. Anushka Sharma who was the big winner at the Vogue night after receiving 'Vogue and BMW Game Changer of The Year award', wore a sheer polka dot lace dress by Francesco Scognamiglio. Karan Johar too makes it to this one in a Gucci shirt, paired it with jacket and trousers. He received ‘Vogue Man of the Year award.’
The second cover goes international with Padma Lakshmi in a velvet blouse and matching skirt both from Altuzarra, Russian model Natalia Vodianova in Mugler and PeeCee in a silk dress by Off-white. Priyanka Chopra has been a part of Vogue India since its inception adorning their very first cover. She even took to Instagram to share her thoughts, “I'm so sorry I could not be there last night but from being your first cover girl to this one... this journey has been tremendous!"
Congratulations @vogueindia for your 10th anniversary! However, the social media junkie, Karan Johar, also followed and shared his version of a Vogue cover-worthy shot from the award function with Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and filmmaker Kiran Rao.
