October trailer launch: Varun Dhawan, Shoojit Sircar and Banita Sandhu share their experience
Varun Dhawan may be the newest superstar in Bollywood with Judwaa2 being one of the highest grossers of 2017 but even he had to make a call to director Shoojit Sircar to bag October. The first trailer of the film released in Mumbai on Monday and like Piku did for Deepika Padukone, October promises to present Varun in a different light.
“It was early January in 2016 when Varun called me but we couldn’t really meet. Then one day Varun called and I asked him to come that very moment. He wasn’t very well dressed but he was there. And while we discussed working together I realised that he was the character we were looking for. Varun was Dan,” said Shoojit Sircar.
But For the industry and the fans, Varun is a star for the masses. Not everyone can remake a Salman Khan film and turn it into a blockbuster. “But I am the one who needs October the most,” said Varun. “The Varun you know on screen is not the person I am. There is a different human being beneath the make-up. And dada has tried to bring that out.”
The first trailer gives us a glimpse into the life of Dan (Dhawan) shuttling between a hotel job and the hospital ICU. The makers claim that it isn’t a love story but a story about love. Newcomer Banita Sandhu was both shy and excited at the trailer launch.
“I had done an ad with Shoojit and when he called for the film, I jumped at the offer. I didn’t care whether I had a cameo or a lead role. I just wanted to work with Shoojit,” said Sandhu. October releases April 13th.
