Oscars 2019 Exclusive: Richa Chadha expresses her joy on Guneet Monga's huge victory
The highly anticipated award ceremony, 91st Academy Awards, ended with a bang. Right from stars putting their fashionable foot forward on the red carpet to many winning the golden statue, the event was LIT. However, for Indians, the most note-worthy moment at the Oscars 2019 was when an India-based documentary, Period. End of Sentence bagged the trophy for the Best Documentary Short Subject. Co-produced by Guneet Monga and directed by Iranian-American filmmaker, Rayka Zehtabchi, the documentary revolves around the taboo around menstruation. Many fellow filmmakers and stars from Bollywood have started pouring in wishes for Guneet and team on her BIG achievement.
And the latest B-townie to come out and express her joy on the same is none other than actress Richa Chadha. For the unaware, Chadha has worked with producer Monga in two films, Gangs of Wasseypur (part 1) and Masaan. "It's a moment of great pride for us that a film about menstruation set in Haryana has been awarded an Oscar. Guneet has fought against all odds to be where she is and it's a remarkable team effort. It's a very inspiring, empowering and loving film about hope and gentle resistance," Chadha said to us.
Well, congratulations to Guneet Monga and the team and we hope, India keeps shinning like this forever.
