Padma Awards 2019: Prabhu Deva deserves the honour, says Varun Dhawan
It was in January when the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the list of recipients of the prestigious Padma Awards for the year 2019. As an update to the same, on Monday, March 11, President of India – Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Padma Awards to 56 out of the 112 recipients. The felicitation was held at New Delhi’s Rashtrapati Bhavan. Among the many awardees, choreographer and actor Prabhu Deva, too, was honoured with a Padma Shri. The ABCD actor received the award for his contribution in the field of Art – Dance. We reached out to Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who has worked with Prabhu Deva and he was extremely happy on his achievement.
Varun Dhawan expressed his happiness by saying, “He (Prabhu Deva) totally deserves the recognition. What an amazing career he has had from Pakachik, Laila and Muqabala followed by becoming a mass hero and dancing god in India. I am working and dancing with him and it’s one of the greatest honours for me.” Both Varun Dhawan and Prabhu Deva have worked in Remo D’Souza’s ABCD 2 and his upcoming dance film titled Street Dancer. Shooting for the same had kick-started in Punjab and is currently happening in London.
