The Cyderabad Police officials have issued notices to around 500 people across the world. The list also includes names of some of the most popular Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Vivek Oberoi, Pooja Hegde, cricketer Yuvraj Singh and others. Reportedly, these celebrities have been served with notices for their alleged involvement in a multi-crore QNet scam registered in Cyderabad. Reports further add that these celebrities have endorsed the company in exchange of money. The officials have also arrested around 60 accused people, involved in the case.
QNet’s promoters, directors, shareholders and its CEO have also been served with notices. The Cyderabad Police has granted a week’s time to all the accused and has asked them to appear before the police by March 4. However, if they failed to do so, legal action will be taken against them. This move was initiated after many victims of QNet claimed that they have been duped because these celebrities were promoting QNet. For the unaware, QNet was accused of running one of the biggest Ponzi scams in India that looted at least three lakh people. The racket was busted red-handed by Cyderabad detectives in several parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Bengaluru and Delhi.
However, QNet made some opposite claims. In a statement released by its officials after the arrest of their representatives, QNet said, "In cognisance of Cyderabad Police Commissioner’s statement about the misrepresentation by the independent representatives of QNet in Hyderabad promising quick money and making other false claims about the financial returns from the business, we have launched a detailed internal investigation to ascertain and punish the culprits, and have already suspended several IRs.”
