In a shocking turn of events, the name of Bollywood's celebrated filmmaker, Rajkumar Hirani has cropped up in the #MeToo campaign. HuffPost India recently shared a detailed report on how one of the female assistant directors, who worked with Hirani on Sanju, reached out to Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Anupama Chopra via mail to share that she was sexually abused by him. Rajkumar Hirani then sent out a statement denying all the allegations calling it false and malicious. Many industry folk expressed shock over this news, some even came out in support of him. The latest one to extend his support to Hirani is renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar.
He took to Twitter and stated that Rajkumar Hirani is one of the most decent men he has ever come across in the industry. To back his thoughts, Javed Akhtar attached GB Shaw's quote that reads "it is too dangerous to be too good."
Earlier, it was Sharman Joshi who tweeted in support of the filmmaker. He even used #IStandForHirani to emphasise his stand and stated that Rajkumar Hirani is a man with integrity.
As the #MeToo wave hit Bollywood, many big names were exposed. These were forced to step down from their roles and walk out of movies they were a part of. Hirani's name, too, has been dropped at one of the producers of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.
