Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has been sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for failing to repay a loan of Rs 5 crore he borrowed for producing a movie. The comedian, who is currently in Delhi’s Tihar jail, has found ways to entertain his fellow mates in the jail too. As per latest reports, Yadav performed a stand-up comedy act as part of a poet’s meet programme for the inmates of the jail on Friday and got everyone enthralled.
“His act was a laugh riot,” said a jail officer according to a report by Hindustan Times. “There were several poets on the stage but Yadav made sure everyone laughed. Everyone was awestruck to see a celebrity on stage.” He further added that it has been a while since the prison has had a popular actor from the industry. “Tihar has had big politicians, cricketers, gangsters and terrorists but this is the first time in decades that the jail has had a popular actor as an inmate. He is keeping everyone in good humour. The inmates were excited to see a popular actor on the dais,” added the officer.
According to a senior jail officer, Yadav, who is lodged in jail number 7, is also working on a play for Christmas, which his inmates asked him to direct.
“They told us that they have planned to start a drama club in jail 7,” the officer said.
Reports add that Yadav spends his time in the jail’s music room and has also been often spotted writing.
