Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's Gully Boy received thunderous applause from critics and audience alike, and we saw great business coming. Both the content and performances were lauded. On its first day, the film collected around Rs 19.25 crore, following which it showed tremendous growth. By its first weekend, Zoya Akhtar's film stood with over Rs 70 crore in its kitty. One knew that the film was racing towards the 100-crore club. Right now, Gully Boy stands with around Rs 103 crore.
The film, revolving around street rappers of Mumbai, had released in around 2000 theatres across India. While it is usually the quintessential romantic films that hit theatres on Valentine's Day, Gully Boy broke the tradition but was received well nonetheless. At the time of its release, Vicky Kaushal's Uri was still running decently. Uri has crossed Rs 200 crore mark at the box office and might have proven to be slight competition for Gully Boy.

Kangana Ranaut' Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi which is also running right now, didn't seem to be a business eater for Gully Boy. On Friday, Ajay Devgn's Total Dhamaal released to fair numbers at the theatre and is likely to continue its run for at least two coming weeks now. However, one expects Gully Boy to have a strong run at the box office for at least a week now.
