Ranveer Singh seems like he can do nothing wrong. He is one of the most sought after actors in Bollywood right now. The superstar is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming film, Gully Boy, starring Alia Bhatt, Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz, Amruta Subhash and Vijay Verma. Looking back, Ranveer has played a number of superb characters, most notably Alauddin Khilji, in Padmaavat. During an interaction with the media, the actor was asked if he was willing to pull off another Khilji-like character, but Ranveer clarified that he has no such plans.
“Probably not and not any time soon. I can’t go back there. I am very blessed right now. I am going through a very good time. I am very happily married. I am being showered with love and affection my wife and I am very warm and fuzzy…To be honest with you, when Khilji was offered to me I was happy even then, but I was prepared to go down that rabbit hole, but right now I am not prepared to go down that rabbit hole, because having done it, I know how deep and dark it is. I don’t want to go there. So not any time soon and hopefully never,” said Ranveer. The actor had earlier said that he felt that preparing for Khilji was tough as it was an intense and dark character.

It sounds a lot like Ranveer is not content in doing films with a dark overtone, even though it earned him a lot of money and appreciation – Padmaavat was a hit. He, however, has taken a fancy to films being offered to other stars, most notably, Ayushmann Khurrana. “I see Ayushmann’s scripts and wonder why didn’t I get these films,” said Ranveer. Does that mean he’s open to directors who’re open to directing films such as Bareilly Ki Barfi, Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun?
