Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy released on February 14, 2019 and as expected the film is enjoying a bumper opening at the box office. It wasn’t a holiday, but Valentine’s Day celebrations have surely given a boost to the film and according to box office India, it went on to collect Rs 19.25 crore at the box office on day one. On day two, i.e. Friday, the movie witnessed a slight drop and collected Rs 12.75, but on Saturday once again there was a huge jump with collections going up to Rs 18.50 crore. In just three days, the movie has collected a solid Rs 50.50 crore.
Though it has collected Rs 50.50 crore in three days, the movie has failed to beat the collection of Ranveer’s last two movies Padmaavat and Simmba. But with Gully Boy, Alia Bhatt has got her biggest opening with this being her first film to have collected Rs 50 crore in three days. The Zoya Akhtar directorial is doing quite well in urban-centres. If the film enjoys a good jump on Sunday, the movie may just go on to collect more than Rs 70 crore in its extended first weekend. If Gully Boy sustains well on the weekdays too, then 100 crore in its first week is on the horizon.

Gully Boy is a movie inspired by the life of street rappers Naezy and Divine. The film received positive reviews on release and the word of mouth has been phenomenal.
