It seems that Sallu Bhai is a busy bee. After having completed the shoot schedule for Tiger Zinda Hai, the star has started the preparing for the third edition of the Dabangg franchise. Salman along with brother Arbaaz Khan met up with director Prabhudeva on Monday night to discuss the next project for which shooting will begin early next year.
Arbaaz Khan confirmed the developments, telling Mumbai Mirror, "We had already announced some months ago that Prabhudheva is directing the film and we met to discuss work."
The Ek tha Tiger star recently revealed that he will be simultaneously filming Dabangg 3 and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s period drama Bharat.
The first edition of the Dabangg franchise had released in 2010 with Salman and Sonakshi in the lead. It was produced by Arbaaz and directed by Abhinav Kashyap. The movie was a huge hit garnering over Rs 215 crores in revenue. Arbaaz directed the sequel that opened in 2012 and fetched another Rs 250 crores. Both Dabangg movies are in the top-grossers list, even as Salman Khan has stayed one of the most consistently bankable assets with movies like Bajrangi Bhaigan, Sultan, Kick, Prem Ratan Dan Payo and Ek Tha Tiger turning into mammoth money-magnets at the box office.
2017 has not looked great for Salman Khan. His home production, Tubelight, took a huge beating at the box office with his production house even offering to reimburse distributors for the losses incurred with the film.
Having said that, franchises have had a good run so far, be it Dabangg, Tiger, Houseful or Golmaal. In a recent testament, Golmaal 4 crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in just 4 days of release and raked in a total earning of Rs 300 crore. Therefore, the question is, will Chulbul Pandey flips his shades on the back side of his shirt collar and patch up with the box office.
