Karan Johar is a mentor to many in the Indian film industry and after delivering the likes of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra at the gates of superstardom, the star producer and a shrewd businessman, Johar has now trained his sight on two more newbies -- Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan. Khan was revealed to the twitterverse and the media on Tuesday morning by Dharma Productions. She will be the leading lady of Rohit Shetty's Simmba, a film that also stars Ranveer Singh.
The makers of Kedarnath have clearly missed out on the Sara wave as the debut of a star kid is considered big in Bollywood. The fact that Sara is Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan's daughter only adds to the buzz around the release. Kedarnath director Abhishek Kapoor had initially declared its release date to be December 21st this year. The producers though, reports say, weren't ok with the announcement. After the stalling of the shoot and even legal action, the film is finally in the script reading stage again but won't finish shooting for a 2018 release.
Simmba is slated for a December 28th release and will start shooting as soon as Ranveer Singh is done with Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy which is in its 52nd day of shoot currently.
Janhvi Kapoor, however, will debut first with Dhadak. She is already half-way through the film and will soon start shooting in Kolkata for the second half of the film that also stars Ishaan Khattar.
Sridevi and Boney Kapoor's daughter has been a big hit on social media with close to a million followers on Instagram. With the untimely demise of Sridevi, Janhvi's debut film has become that much more important for the industry and the many fans of Sridevi. Sara has so far, like her father Saif, stayed away from social media but we think Karan Johar is soon going to change that.
