The film Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, might be making rounds to the legal courts pushing the release date indefinitely, Shahid Kapoor too will step into the court, not for Padmawati for for his next film. Like Ranveer Singh, Shahid has too moved on to his next ‘Batii Gul Meter Chalu’ in which he’ll be seen as a lawyer.
A first where Shahid will be seen wearing the black robe, the actor has started prepping for the film. The ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame director, Narayan Singh, said to Mumbai Mirror, “The film will take off on a cool note but will become more intense post-interval with heavyweight performances and Shahid having several confrontation scenes. ”
The social-drama will go on the floors on January 19. The film will be shot in North India with a start-to-finish schedule across Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tehri, Mussoorie and Nainital. The makers are hoping to wrap up the film by April. However, the hunt for the leading lady and as well as an actress to play a female lawyer who will battle Shahid in court is still on.
“The film touches upon two aspects — first, the significance of electricity and life without it and second, what happens to a common man when he is faced with humungous bills," the filmmaker says. It will also touch upon the topic of electricity distribution within the country.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is slated for release on August 31, 2018, with Singh not only directing but also editing it.
