Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar's last outing October was a strong critical success. The film also allowed actor Varun Dhawan to shift from his usual genre and explore the performer in him. Moving on, Shoojit is now working on a biopic of Shaheed Udham Singh, a Sikh revolutionary who killed one of the perpetrators of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. But before he jumps into an ocean of work that will continue for a while, he was probably in the mood of a quick break to his hometown.
On his Twitter handle, Shoojit shared a photo of himself sitting inside a not so fancy barbershop. He calls it his 'old barbershop' and also tells us how he gets a delightful experience of a hair cut, a beard trim, a head massage and a shoulder massage, all for Rs 180. A notice written in Bengali stuck on the wall behind him tells us he is indeed back home and is refreshing himself before all the action begins. Not a bad idea at all.
For Udham Singh, Shoojit's first choice was Irrfan Khan, who was diagnosed with cancer around a year back and has been off work ever since. He recently returned to Mumbai from London where he was undergoing his treatments.
"Irrfan and I have had a discussion on this. He is recovering well and is in a good mood. He wants to start work on films but for now, he would like to do a film that does not require the kind of strenuous physical action that this film would. He told me to move on since we have waited for long on this film. He and I are in touch and we are working on something else together," Shoojit said.
This means, the filmmaker already has another project after Udham Singh in place!
