Sonam Kapoor will next be seen in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga in which she will share screen space alongside her father Anil Kapoor. The trailer and the songs of the film have given us a hint that the movie will bring up the subject of homosexuality and acceptance. But the makers have not gone all out about the subject in the promotions. In a media interaction on Wednesday, Sonam was asked about why the makers have shied away from speaking openly about the subject, to which the actress begged to differ.
Sonam said, “We are not hiding anything, everything is out there for everybody to see. But once we start labelling things and labelling situations then it becomes an issue. Being gay is a non-issue, it’s absolutely natural and normal.” Seemingly unhappy with the line of questioning and prodding, Sonam added, “Why should I reveal the plot of any film? We are not hiding anything, everybody can see what is in the trailer. I am just saying why we should label anything. It is a lesson that is being told that there is no difference between any love in this world.”
When asked about being a society that largely considers falling in love with the same sex a disease, the actress said, “Actually we're misunderstanding and not understanding that the audience is way more intelligent and way more receptive than we think they are. The people of India are not as regressive as much as we think they are."
