Indians just need an excuse to show their disgust towards Pakistan. Twitter was up in arms when Sonam Kapoor wished her Khoobsurat co-star Fawad Khan, who happens to be a Pakistan national, a happy birthday on twitter on Wednesday. Sonam was at the receiving end of a lot of hate comments for sending across her greeting to the actor.
Many spewed hatred on her wishes with few even calling the actor a terrorist. One user even suggested that if the actress is missing the actor, she should move to Pakistan.

Fawad was a widely-liked actor with his brief stint in India. He won many hearts with his roles in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Khoobsurat and Kapoor and Sons. However, after the Uri attacks that took place Jammu and Kashmir in 2016, the nation-wide animosity towards the neighbouring country of Pakistan rose. In the wake of the attacks, the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) demanded that all Pakistani nationals, artists, celebrities alike, should go return to Pakistan. Fearing for his safety, Fawad quietly exited the country. Even the film ADHM faces severe backlash for having a Pakistani actor on board. Director Karan Johar even considered replacing Fawad’s face with that of Saif Ali Khan but the plan did not materialise.
Up until now, the India-Pakistan issue has been a sensitive one and the lull is evident as no other notable Indian celebrity wished Fawad on his birthday. Sonam has been in the new lately for her criticism towards spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for a comment that the god man made about homosexuality. However, before Sonam could realize that she had misconstrued a news article headline for Shankar’s comments, she was subjected to immense trolling.
Homosexuality is not a ‘tendency’ it’s something you are born as and is absolutely NORMAL. To tell someone you can change is irresponsible.— Sonam Kapoor (@sonamakapoor) November 14, 2017
Finished with educating.. now moving to ignoring 😂😀— Kamlesh Barwal (@KamleshBarwal) November 14, 2017
Sri Sri @srisri is one guru who has always supported people with homosexualtiy. Even when others like Baba ramdev termed it a sin. You should improve your GK a bit before going *bang *bang on Twitter.— Vivek Barun Rai (@a1vivek) November 14, 2017
Twitter has given you a loud voice, one that can be here by millions.. some responsibility and a bit more research before being so trigger happy would be great no ?— Tanushree Bishnoi (@jgdtanushree) November 14, 2017
While Sonam is not new to trolls, this birthday wish to her co-actor got her into more trouble than she may have bargained for. Well you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
