Sonchiriya: Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar starrer runs into legal trouble
Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar are gearing up for the release of their next film Sonchiriya directed by Abhishek Chaubey. The trailer of the film was released a few weeks ago and the raw and rustic feel of the video impressed audiences. The movie revolves around the dacoity of Chambal during the 70s. The makers have been releasing a few promotional videos revealing the situations in the region at the time. While it looks like the film and the stars are immersed in character, it has not gone down well with the people of Chambal.
Sonchiriya has run into legal trouble. The people of Chambal are not too happy with the way makers portray their city in the film. They feel that Sonchiriya doesn't show the city in right light. Shiksha Mitr Foundation, an NGO based in Gwalior has sent a legal notice to the makers of the film. We have got a copy of the notice sent by them to the makers. After watching the trailer, it seemed like the movie may face issues with CBFC but it has gone through without much trouble. The censor board has already given the film an 'A' certification and suggested a few cuts, to which the makers have obliged. But this legal notice may spell fresh trouble.
Also starring Manoj Bajpyee, Ashutosh Rana and Ranvir Shorey, Sonchiriya is slated to hit the screens on March 1, 2019.
