Sonu Sood to play the villain in Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba
Our favourite villain Cheddi Singh aka Sonu Sood is set to return as a gruesome villain in another high octane cop drama. The actor will be next seen as Ranveer Singh's arch-opponent in the Rohit Shetty directorial, Simmba. This is the first time that Sonu and Ranveer will be acting together in a film. According to a DNA report, Sonu has bagged the role of the main antagonist of the movie which was earlier offered to R Madhavan. But after Madhavan underwent a surgery, he opted out of Simmba saying it is a "huge opportunity lost."
This is after a long time Sonu will essay the role of a primary antagonist in a movie. The actor was last seen essaying such a character in the 2014 Telugu flick Aagadu. “It’s a strong character with grey shades and considerable screen time. Interestingly, the buzz was also that before Madhavan, Abhishek Bachchan was considered for this part,” said a source close to the daily.
If reports are to be believed, Abhishek Bachchan was also offered the role. However, the collaboration did not work out eventually. Besides, Abhishek is currently busy with the shoot of Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan.
The movie, co-produced by Rohit and Dharma Productions, recently roped in Sara Ali Khan as its leading lady. Simmba, which is slated to release on 28th December, may mark Sara's Bollywood debut. Her other film, Abhishek Kapoor's romantic drama Kedarnath starring Sushant Singh Rajput, has faced multiple delays.
