Karan Johar directed Kareena Kapoor Khan in 2001 release Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. After that Kareena starred in many Karan’s production ventures, but the filmmaker never directed the actress. However, now after 18 years, they are teaming up once again for Takht. Karan will be directing it and apart from Kareena, the film also stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. The movie is said to be based in the Mughal Era and recently while talking to PTI, Kareena shared some interesting details about her character in the film.
The actress said, "It's a different film because I've not really done a period film like this. There will be a certain amount of dialect preparation, look tests that will happen. I'm also working with Karan after a very long time so I'm very excited. Hopefully, it'll be a part which will be remembered because it's socially relevant. It's a strong character. The best part is it'll be completely different than what I did in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham as Poo.” She also stated that Karan has evolved as a filmmaker and she has also completely changed as an artist.
Reportedly, Kareena will play the role of Jahanara Begum, the First Lady of the Mughal Empire. She was the daughter of Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal and sister of Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb. If this report turns out to be true then Kareena will be seen as Vicky and Ranveer’s sister.
