The Accidental Prime Minister: FIR filed against Anupam Kher, Akhaye Khanna and many others
The Accidental Prime Minister gets into a legal tussle again, an FIR has been filed against Anupam Kher and 12 others.
Anupam Kher’s The Accidental Prime Minister has been grabbing the limelight for all the wrong reasons. Ever since the makers dropped the trailer of the film, it has been embroiled in a number of controversies. On Tuesday, the Muzaffarpur Police lodged an FIR against Kher, Akshaye Khanna and 12 others in connection with the film. The FIR was filed at the Kanti police station by advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha who claimed that the movie presented Manmohan Singh along with a number of other public figures in bad light.
Ojha filed the complaint back on January 8, following which the court ordered the police to lodge the FIR. However, the order was reportedly ‘not complied’ by the police. The court then took objection to non-compliance of the order, after which the FIR was lodged. Commenting on the same, Ojha told the reporters, “On this, the court issued a show-cause notice to Kanti police station through the Muzaffarpur senior superintendent of police after which police lodged an FIR yesterday (Tuesday).”
Besides Kher and Akshaye, other actors who have been named in the FIR are Suzanne Bernert (Sonia Gandhi), Arjun Mathur (Rahul Gandhi), Vimal Verma (Lalu Prasad Yadav), Avtar Sahni (Lal Krishna Advani), and Ram Avtar (Atal Bihari Vajpayee). Moreover, the director of the film Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and producers Sunil Bohra and Dhaval Gada and few others have also been named in the FIR.
The movie is based on the memoir of the same name by Indian policy analyst Sanjaya Baru. It tells the story of Manmohan Singh’s tenure as the Prime Minister of India and the kind of control he had over his cabinet and the country.Read More
