With Milan Talkies on the brink of its release, the producers of the film are ensuring that buzz around it doesn't drop. That is probably why they've been releasing short promotional videos every day. The latest one is of Tigmanshu Dhulia - the National Award-winning director who stars in the film. Tigmanshu Dhulia plays the protagonist's (played by Ali Fazal) father. This simple and short video shows Dhulia play the jaded middle-class man who has stopped believing in all things good. Have a look at the dialogue promo right here:
Milan Talkies is a turbulent love story set in Uttar Pradesh, during the single-screen theatre era. Tigmanshu Dhulia is the writer and director of Milan Talkies which stars Ali Fazal and Shraddha Srinath in the lead. Shraddha recently told a leading daily that it was the quickest audition ever. “Tishusir was looking for a girl to play the lead and a writer friend of his had watched Vikram Vedha, so he asked him to check me out. ‘My writer has given a suggestion for an actor, so I called you for an audition,’ is what he told me. Then he sent me a script and I auditioned. After that, he asked me to shoot it again with the camera closer to me. It was the quickest audition ever.”
Ali Fazal, too, has words of kindness to say for Tigmanshu Dhulia. "This story is very close to Tigmanshu sir and his growing up days when we had only single-screen theatres. The film is also a tribute to the single screen, to the old cinema and the classics. The title was stuck in my head for four years or so. I found the story very interesting and the film came to me right after Mirzapur. I have always been fascinated by Tigmanshu sir’s body of work. I don’t know the fate of the film but I felt very much evolved in his company because as a person, you need to not be just bubbled up in your own little world. You need to know what is happening around you. He also makes you learn how to think on your feet as an actor. He knows Bollywood like nobody else. He is a writer, actor, director and musician, and that really helped me in my craft."
Milan Talkies also stars Ashutosh Rana, Sanjay Mishra, Reecha Sinha and Sikander Kher. The film is produced by Filmy Keeda Productions in association with Om Prakash Bhatt (Purple Bull Entertainment). Milan Talkies will hit the theatres on March 15.
