Uri: The Surgical Strike is in no mood to slow down at the box office
What January jinx? Uri: The Surgical Strike is proof that it doesn’t matter whether a film releases in January, on a non-holiday weekend or on any other month. It is only good content that will get audiences to the theatres. The Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer had a very good first weekend with the collection of Rs 35.50 crore. Trade analysts expected the film to have a steady performance on weekdays, but it has clearly outperformed all expectations.
On Monday, the film collected a solid Rs 10.25 crore, which by the way is more than release day collections. On Tuesday the collection came in at Rs 9.50 crore, again more than Friday. Uri: The Surgical Strike faced its first drop on Wednesday and even that was just moderately. On Wednesday and Thursday, the movie collected Rs 7.50 crore and Rs 7.25 crore approx. taking the first week total to a stellar Rs 70 crore. This figure makes it a super hit at the box office and will definitely rule in the second week too. We expect this movie to be the first 100 crore film of 2019.

On the other hand, The Accidental Prime Minister performed below average in its first week. The Anupam Kher starrer has collected a mere Rs 17.50 crore. This week though has two releases, Why Cheat India and Fraud Saiyaan. Both the movies will depend on word of mouth, so let’s see if these they will make a mark at the box office or not.
