Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike creates history in with its second week collection, enters 100 crore club
Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike has taken the box office by storm. The film, which is having a phenomenal run at the box office, raked in Rs 8.20 crore on its day 1, and a total of Rs 35.73 crore by the end of its first weekend. In just 5 days of its release, the film crossed Rs 50 crore mark. Now, after two weeks of successful run at the theatres, it has finally entered the 100-crore club and with which, it has also become the first 2019 film to enter the coveted club. Not just that, it has even created history by collecting more in the second weekend than the first.
According to Box Office India, the military-film collected Rs 37.25 crore nett in its second weekend, which is higher than its first weekend (Rs 35.92 crore nett). The film’s total collection now is Rs 108.50 crore nett and it’s reportedly giving a tough competition to last year's hit films, Stree and Badhaai Ho. Notably, the film happens to be Vicky’s third film in a row to cross the 100-crore mark after Raazi and Sanju. What an enormous rise in career he has had, we must admit!
Sharing words of appreciation for the film, trade analyst Girish Johar told in.com, “The content has been appreciated a lot by the audience. And, the huge difference now is that people are watching good and meaningful cinema. Good stories are being told, which audiences are going and watching.”
Helmed by Aditya Dhar, it also stars Yami Gautam, Kirti Kulhari, Mohit Raina, Paresh Rawal and Swarup Sampat.
