The makers of Padmavati launched the 3D trailer on Tuesday. While there were speculations that none of the cast was going to attend, Deepika did make it sans the director and both Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
The makers made three major announcements which weren’t really announcements.
1. They said the film has a huge budget. As if we didn’t know that already. But didn’t give us a number.
2. It will see the biggest opening at the box office. That was vague again since they didn’t give any numbers.
3. The makers have tied up with Paramount Pictures for the overseas release. That’s probably the only information that was provided to the media.
Deepika too kept it vague and skipped all questions about the many problems that the film had been facing. Though she did tell us how Ghoomar was such a difficult song to shoot and how she had to twirl 66 times to get it right.
Padukone wanted to court no controversies considering there’s one waiting in the wings every time someone says Padmavati. She was definitely nervous. "It's been a while since I have been so nervous. I can't remember the time I was so nervous. I think it is the function of the fact that in all the movies that I've done, I feel there is something (different) about this one. And it is not from the heart, it is not from the head, it is from the gut... It is coming from a completely different place," Deepika said.
The Padmavati trailer has garnered over 50 million hits on YouTube.
"It has been an extremely emotional journey for all of us. Especially after we launched the trailer, I think the response and the reactions were absolutely overwhelming. I think Sanjay Sir and all of us just literally did a group hug,” she added.Padmavati scheduled to release on December 1.
