Bollywood's gift that keeps on giving - Ranveer Singh has now been approached for the lead role on a Meghna Gulzar project, according to reports. Singh is currently working on Kabir Khan's '83 and if all goes well, he'll be essaying the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in a biopic. Ranveer was last seen in Gully Boy (which managed to cross a hundred crores at the Box Office). Gully Boy was his third hit in a row, after Padmaavat and Simmba.
It is no secret that Meghna Gulzar has been researching about Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw (popularly known as Sam Bahadur). He was the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, and the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of field marshal. Awarded both honours of Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, Manekshaw died in 2008, aged 94. It is worth noting that Ranveer Singh has only been approached for the role - whether he'll do it or not, that is a story for another day.
Meghna Gulzar is currently focussing on Chhapaak that stars Deepika Padukone in the role of an acid-attack survivor - Laxmi Agarwal. Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh was last seen in Zoya Akhtar's
Gully Boy. His next project is being helmed by Kabir Khan and is a sports drama called '83. The film essays the journey of the Indian cricket team when they won the World Cup in 1983. Ranveer will be seen as captain Kapil Dev. If Ranveer Singh takes up this role, it'll be his first project with filmmaker Meghna Gulzar.
