On World Cancer Day, the whole world will be utilising the day to raise awareness about the deadly disease – cancer. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer is “the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with approximately 14 million new cases in 2012.” Cancer, which is the second leading cause of death globally after heart attack, affects the famous and not-so-famous alike.
Though, according to WHO, “approximately 70% of deaths from cancer occur in low- and middle-income countries,” the affluent also get affected by it. One-third of cancer cases have caused five leading behavioral and dietary risks: high body mass index, low fruit and vegetable intake, lack of physical activity, tobacco use, and alcohol use.
