Ed Sheeran honoured, might play at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding
British singer Ed Sheeran has recently been honoured with the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by none other than Prince Charles at the Buckingham Palace, for his services to music and charity. The 26-year-old, who became the most streamed artist of 2017, is keen to perform at the upcoming royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
According to People magazine, the Shape of You star said that he has not yet been asked to perform at the royal wedding. But when reporters asked if he would do so if invited, he grinned and replied, “Yeah, why not."
Performing at the royal wedding would come off as a big honour for Sheeran, who told reporters that his grandfather was a fan of the monarchy and possessed a collection of royal memorabilia, and that he would be proud that Ed received the MBE.
"He died on this day four years ago, so it’s actually quite a nice full circle thing, I guess he’d be pretty proud,” Sheeran told reporters.
Sheeran, well-known for his casual appearances, looked sharp as he collected his MBE in a morning dress and a smart tails coat.
Speaking about his just received honour, the ‘Perfect’ star said, “I think it’s persistence. I don’t have a vast amount of talent compared to other people. I think talent is like 30% of it and persistence, drive and self-belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing.”
Ed had one heck of a year which saw his third album break chart records across the planet. Recently Sheeran hit the headlines after being knocked off a bike in London, forcing him to postpone a few gigs.
