Celebrities from different walks of life in our country enjoy a good fan following, especially our Bollywood stars who are literally worshipped. Our celebs not only endorse brands but are also the face of various social causes. B-town’s fittest mommy, Kareena Kapoor Khan was recently announced as the brand ambassador of Swasth Immunised India, an initiative by Network18 and Serum Institute Of India. The campaign was launched in Mumbai on Thursday.
The initiative aims to vaccinate 80% of the country’s children in a span of five years. Being a mother herself, the actor revealed how she came on-board to be part of the campaign. “My voice can resonate with so many young mothers as I am going through the same journey of Taimur’s vaccination like them. The whole idea is to grasp them to believe in me and I think is the perfect campaign for me at this point of time to be associated with and if this can bring in a change in parents, this will be a successful campaign.”
“Being socially responsible is not just a celebrity or a personality’s job, every citizen of India should be socially responsible in a basic manner and it’s the most important thing. As far as this campaign goes, every child to be immunised, to be protected” she added.
Post Taimur’s birth, the actor resumed work and has been juggling between her personal and professional commitments. The actor spilled the beans on how she manages to do it with grace. “I have always know the art of balancing, I think a working mother is somebody whom we think should learn to respect and admire rather than people constantly asking how I am working when Taimur is so small or how I am doing? A happy mother will bring up her child to the best of her ability and I am happy when I am working and then when I go back home, the idea isn’t the quantity it’s the quality of the time with the child that matters.”
Kareena Kapoor Khan took megastar Amitabh’s example and stated that how an influential person’s voice can bring change and helped eradicate Polio from the country. "In the polio vaccination ads, Mr. Bachchan would be stern in alerting people and so many went to the vaccination booths with their kids in the fear that Mr. Bachchan would be angry if they didn’t."
On the work front, we will see the actor in two big films, namely, Good News and Takth and she spoke at length about them. "It’s great and it’s wonderful to be working again with Akshay Kumar..it’s a topical film (Good News) but done in a really funny manner and I am looking forward to it. It will be releasing on September 6. After that, we will start the journey of Takth and I am looking forward to working with Ranveer and Vicky who are brilliant actors who I think are really in great space.”Read More
