Bollywood rides high when it comes to remakes. While some have been made sooner than anticipated, for cult classics, directors and producers are wary of touching their beauty. But Bollywood classic, Hum Apke Hain Koun may soon see a remake. Wondering who will play the timeless roles of Prem (played by Salman Khan) and Nisha (played by Madhuri Dixit)? Rajshri production has got you covered.
The production house put out a poll on Twitter asking which pair fans may want to see in a remake of Hum Apke Hain Koun. With just one option as Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt and an others category, poll takers were left with not many choices. The production house known for creating family dramas like Maine Pyar Kiya, Prem Ratan Dhan Pay, Hum Apke Hain Kaun and others could well be on its way to make Alia and Varun recreate the magic on screen. Varun who’s recent remake of Judwaa was one of the highest grosser at the box office last year, seems well on his way to climbing Bollywood’s ladder by playing Salman Khan.
Who would you like to see in #HumAapkeHainKoun remake?— Rajshri (@rajshri) February 7, 2018
Over 3000 people took the poll on Twitter and the final result shows Twitteratti preferring a different pair as 55% voted for others against 46% who wanted to see the Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya pair recreate Nisha and Prem’s innocent love.
While a formal declaration of the remake is yet to be made, one character from the iconic film said she would be happy if it is done. Prem’s bhabhi played by Renuka Shahane told Hindustan Times, “Revisiting Hum Aapke Hain Koun would surely bring something different this time around. If it’s remade for the younger generation, I think they’d like to see the characters in a modern sort of way,”
Remakes come with their own glitches especially when you are recreating a 1994 movie in 2018. The movie’s furry climax, Tuffy, might just see a replacement in the remake as reflected by Shahane. “Now with mobile phones, Facebook and Twitter, I don’t know how the makers would show the whole Tuffy (the family pet in the original film) thing. The climax scene, where Tuffy brings the letter to Mohnishji (Bahl) and he finds out about Nisha’s real feelings for Prem, would not be the same. But yeah, it’s worth revisiting and would be so much fun.”
A remake of a cult classic like Hum Apke Hain Koun is a true test of mettle. Would Varun and Alia be up for the challenge?
