The new thrilling trailer for the star-studded adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s 1962 classic – A Wrinkle in Time is finally here. Our beloved classic science fiction book for children tells us the tale of a bespectacled-sad teen Meg who travels across the galaxy and dimensions to find her missing father. Meg’s preternaturally bright little brother, Charles Wallace and schoolmate Calvin O’Keefe accompanies her on this journey.
Guided by three mysterious old women who might be witches or might be guardian angels, the children make their way to the sinister planet of Camazotz, where everyone is forced to comply. The Mrs Ws narrate the trailer, explaining that they think the Murrays’ father is still alive, and that it’s up to the children to save him and potentially the world. Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, and Reese Witherspoon make appearances as Mrs Which, Mrs Who, and Mrs Whatsit.
Ava DuVernay is directing the film from a screenplay by Jennifer Lee, who wrote ‘Frozen’. ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ is the first book in L’Engle’s ‘Time Quartet’ series that also includes ‘A Wind in the Door’, ‘Many Waters’ and ‘A Swiftly Tilting Planet’. While the book is uniformly white, the director wants her adaptation to have a multi-racial cast. The movie also seems to have fantastic special effects and whimsical settings.A Wrinkle in Time is scheduled to hit theaters on March 9, 2018.
