Disney’s much-awaited trailer of Aladdin is finally here and the makers chose the occasion of the 61st Grammy Awards to showcase the clip. This is the second trailer of Aladdin and unlike the first one, this one reveals the Genie aka, a blue, bearded Will Smith. The trailer comes after 27 years since the animated version of the film. Though the Genie was the main attraction of the trailer, it appeared only at the end – like a brief cameo in a thriller movie.
Will Smith looked bulky and as blue as…well blue! And it looks like this Genie has also got a sense of humour. Besides him, there’s a look at Jafar (Marwen Kenzari), and Princess Jasmine, played by Naomi Scott. We also get a look at the city of Agrabah. Aladdin is played by Mena Massoud. The role of the Sultan will be played by Navid Negahban. Directed by Guy Ritchie, Aladdin’s Genie is likely to have a ‘hip-hop’ attitude about him, as per Variety.
According to reports, the live-action Aladdin will come with a few changes from the original in order to avoid “cultural inaccuracies and insensitivities.” Aladdin is scheduled to release on May 24, 2019.
