It's safe to say that a large number of us do not like to be in a situation in which you get a call from an unknown number. While we plebs find that a problem, Hollywood heartthrob Ashton Kutcher is calling on people to get in touch with him. The No Strings Attached star invited a bunch of randomers (18 million to be precise) to call or text him. We're not kidding! He shared his phone number in a tweet. Initially, it appeared that his account may have gotten hacked or the tweet was a huge mistake from his end, but we were wrong. In the now-deleted tweet, the Hollywood actor expressed that he wants to have a 'real conversation with real people. My community.'
Ashton claimed the contact number in the tweet, that has Iowa City’s area code, is a direct line to him. The number he gave out was 319-519-0576 but when fans wanted to get in touch with him, all they got was a boring automated reply. The response read “Hey it’s Ashton. This is an auto text to let you know I got your message, everything else will be from me. Make sure you click on the link and add yourself to my phone so I can respond to you.” Wait... that's not it, the response also had the link of the actor's start-up company Community.com. Woah, so all this hoopla was just a promotional strategy.
The actor seemed overwhelmed by the response given that the tweet is now taken down. However, he followed the deletion of the tweet with another tweet.
Nice try Ashton!
