The new trailer of Warner Bros’ Detective Pikachu is here and the clip introduces a couple of new Pokemon. The massive reveal came in the form of the legendary Mewtwo making an appearance towards the end of the clip, tearing apart a carnival float. The super aggro Charizard makes an appearance halfway through the trailer and Pikachu can be seen pretty scared. That’s not all, Diplo shows up on the trailer as well. The live action trailer has an extremely brief section where the DJ is visible with a pair of headphones.
Mewtwo first made its appearance on Nintendo’s Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue video games, released in the late 90s for the Game Boy consoles. In case you need a refresher, Mewtwo is a scientifically engineered creature and was cloned from Mew, a psychic-type Pokemon. The trailer also stays true to the rendition of Charizard, a creature that is a lot like a dragon and is always ready for a battle. A couple of other creatures were revealed as well including Machamp, Snubbull and Ludicolo. While Snorlax and Eevee looked really cute, we think that Bulbasaur looked very underwhelming.
Ryan Reynolds voices Pikachu. The talking pokemon and his buddy, Tim Goodman seem to be on a quest to find out information about the latter’s father. Pikachu theorises that Tim’s dad probably faked his death and that is why he’s been missing. The trailer evokes a lot of nostalgia thanks to the Pokemon characters. If you’re raring to become a kid again, Detective Pikachu releases on May 10.
