Game of Thrones is continuing to infuriate fans a week after the series reached a divisive conclusion - with a behind-the-scenes documentary pouring fresh fuel on the backlash fire. Fans have been left raging over the end of the epic HBO/Sky Atlantic breasts and dragons filled fantasy drama after their favorite characters were unceremoniously killed off and some fans accused the show of throwing character development out the window.
A week after the dramatic conclusion, HBO aired a two-hour special documentary titled Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, which contained a range of interviews and footage of the cast at a table reading of the finale episode script. Viewers were left surprised to see show star Kit Harington broke down in tears as he learned his character, Jon Snow, would dramatically kill his on-screen love interest Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke).
Kit had reportedly refused to read the final script before the table-reading in order to have a true emotional reaction to the script. Viewers saw the actor cover his face and burst into tears when he learned his character’s fate. However, considering over 1.5 million Game of Thrones fans have already signed a petition for the final season of the show to be remade after being angered by a “rushed” plot, it should perhaps not come as a surprise that some viewers think Kit’s reaction is also one of anger over how the show ends. In fact, some fans have accused the British actor of showing more emotion during the table-read than in the scenes he performed in that ended up airing in the final episode.
“The table read was more emotional than the death scene itself. How on earth they could f**k that up so badly?” one angry fan wrote on a post on Reddit. While many others have suggested his response at the table-read was because Kit too shared dissatisfaction at how the show ended, some speculated that show writer Dan Weiss mistook Kit’s rage.“He doesn’t even realize they were acting that way because they knew it was absolute crap and cans out of nowhere. Seriously what hacks,” one fan speculated.“I would cry too... I bet that he was thinking... oh my God, this is so stupid but I can’t say anything because I’ll get fired... so stupid,” wrote another.
Others suspect both Kit and Emilia would have been left raging over the fates of their characters. “That was more emotional than the actual damn scene. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when Kit and Emilia talked about this dumpster fire alone,” wrote one fan. However, Emilia escaped the rage of fans - with many saying she worked brilliantly with material that they deemed insufficient. “The fact that she still gave a brilliant performance even with this bulls**t script is a testament to her abilities. She deserves all the awards,” wrote one fan.Read More
