Winter will finally arrive this April when the last and the final season of Game Of Thrones will premiere on HBO. Amidst the widespread speculations about the dragons, the deadly White Walkers and our favourite characters, we are also exposed to new revelations every other day. Yet again, here’s another update from the much-anticipated season and it is sure to make you go OMG! It’s about a cameo appearance in the eighth season which, unfortunately, was chopped off later.
Our eyes widened and jaw dropped when we spotted singer Ed Sheeran in a musical cameo in the seventh season. Well, we could have expected for one more cameo by none other than the GOT creator himself, but if only he didn’t turn it down. We are talking about George RR Martin, who recently revealed that he could have popped up in the upcoming season but he instead decided to focus on writing his next book, The Winds of Winter.
“David and Dan invited me to a cameo in one of the final episodes, which I was tempted to do,” he told EW. “But I didn’t think just for the sake of a cameo I could take the time to return to Belfast.”
That’s not all. What he further revealed will shock you more. He actually showed up in the series’ original pilot, which was subsequently reshot.
"There was a cameo in the original pilot that was cut," he said. "I was a guest at Dany’s wedding, but that was when she was played by Tamzin Merchant, so all that footage got thrown out when we recast with Emilia Clarke."
Meanwhile, season 8 will arrive on April 14 and we are just holding on to our breath!
