Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner wanted to commit suicide when she was young!
Being a celebrity or simply being famous has its own advantages and disadvantages. The most common perception among fans is that celebrities have access to all the good things in life. After all, the grass is always greener on the other side, no? However, the truth is that, for any star, there are as many downsides as there are a number of benefits. One such case is that of Sophie Turner, who is popular for her portrayal of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. The Hollywood actor was only 15-year-old when she first stepped into the world of showbiz with the first season of GoT in 2011. Along with the show, Sophie too became a household name as she garnered a lot of popularity. But…
Sophie’s success proved to be a little pricey for her. In a conversation with Dr.Philon, on his podcast, Phil in the Blanks, Sophie opened up on her ordeal she experienced after the repercussions faced by her character, Sansa Stark. She also revealed how all the negative comments took a toll on her mental health because she was just a teenager at that time. “I would just believe it. I would say, ‘Yeah, I am spotty. I am fat. I am a bad actress.' I would just believe it. I would get the costume department to tighten my corset a lot. I just got very, very self-conscious,” said Sophie.

All the criticism, in fact, gave rise to her insecurities and she chose to isolate herself from people around, including her family and friends. Well, things got worse as her brothers and friends pursued their education. Sophie, on the other hand, dropped her studies because of acting and started to feel even more left out.
On being asked if she ever thought of hurting herself, Sophie confessed, "It's weird. I say I wasn't very depressed when I was younger, but I used to think about suicide a lot when I was younger. I don't know why though.”
She added, "Maybe it's just a weird fascination I used to have, but yeah, I used to think about it. I don't think I ever would have gone through with it. I don't know,” she further added.
As of now, Sophie is regular with her treatments and therapies, she also credits fiancée Joe Jonas for his endless support. The two are soon to tie the knot! Read More
