'Hereditary' is being called 'the most traumatically terrifying horror movie in ages'
‘Hereditary,’ a new horror movie directed by debutant Ari Aster opened at the Sundance Film Festival 2018. Ever since the premiere, the movie attracted headlines like ‘the most insane horror movie in years,’ ‘horror movie that traumatized Sundance,’ ‘the most traumatically terrifying horror movie in ages,’ ‘scariest movie of the year,’ ‘a new generation’s Exorcist,’ and ‘21st century’s Rosemary’s Baby.’ And now, the trailer of 'Hereditary' is out and it has a release date. The movie is scheduled to release in June 28 in the US and it looks spooky as hell.
The film currently has a 100% rating on review aggregator website, Rotten Tomatoes. The writer and director Ari Aster attempts to give a modern-day spin to the classic haunted house setting. The movie stars Toni Collette and Gabriel Byrne and its official synopsis say, “When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited.”
‘Hereditary’ follows the footsteps of fellow Sundance horror movie breakouts in the past like ‘The Witch’, ‘It Comes At Night’ and last year's massive hit, 'Get Out'. Here are some Twitter reactions on ‘Hereditary’ straight out of Sundance.
