Miley Cyrus has given her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas a grilling over that purity ring he wore as a teen. Nick and his brothers Joe and Kevin wore the rings as a sign of their chastity. And Miley - who dated Nick, 26, from 2006 to 2007 - wanted to know how it felt to finally take them off and embrace their animal urges. “Did it feel so good taking off your purity ring and did it feel so good taking off your purity ring — you know what I’m saying?” she teased during an interview with the Jonas Brothers for Capital Breakfast.
Joe, 29 - who married Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner earlier this month - coyly admitted, "Uh, yeah." The brothers open up about the rings in their forthcoming documentary Chasing Happiness, admitting they were disappointed about being mocked. South Park ran a 2009 episode titled The Ring, which portrayed their chastity as a secret marketing tactic by Disney. And Joe admits the theory wasn't 'far off'. “They were saying Disney created a band who were these cookie-cutter boy band brothers and that everything was perfect and that they used Christianity and purity rings as a way to sell music to kids,” he said.
And he also admitted that despite initially thinking the rings 'were cool', by 15 he was starting to have doubts. “In the church, it was encouraged that we go through this program to wait for the right person or until marriage,” he said.
"All the kids I grew up with were doing it so I was like, ‘This is cool.’ Probably by like 15, I was like, ‘What?’ That was not who we were, it was just something that we did when we were young kids." And Nick - who is married to Priyanka Chopra - said the backlash was hurtful. “It was embarrassing... When I would go to a sporting event, and they would put me on the jumbotron or us, they would boo us. As a sports fanatic, I would be so hurt," he said.Read More
