Ask any action-film fan about his favourite films and Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible series is bound to come up. The franchise has seen some breathtaking stunts and thrilling plots. While the female lead often changes, Tom Cruise and his team are a constant. When MI: Rogue Nation released in 2015, it was Rebecca Ferguson taking up the role of an MI6 agent. Last year, she returned as Isla Faust in Fallout, the sequel to the 2015 film.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, the 35-year-old Swedish actress confirmed that she will make a return to the franchise for the third time. When asked if we’ll see her again on Mission Impossible 7, Ferguson replied: ‘You will. Mission: Impossible, Doctor Sleep.’ The actress also spoke on how working on The Greatest Show helped her change her belief in musicals, adding that she was never a fan of ‘people singing their lines.’

According to a report on Metrok.co.uk, the director of Rogue Nation and Fallout, Christopher McQuarrie, will also be back to direct two more sequels. Apparently, they will be shot successively. The upcoming instalment of Mission Impossible is scheduled for release on 23 July 2021. MI 8 too, has a release date and that’ll be on August 5, 2022.
