DC Universe’s upcoming superhero film Shazam! is just around the corner and the studio, Warner Bros, released a new video teaser of the film. Though the clip barely lasts for a minute, it does show the film’s villain, Dr Thaddeus Sivana, played by Mark Strong. Directed by David Sandberg, Shazam! is the origin story of the titular character, played by Zachary Levi. Actor Asher Angel will take up the role of Billy Batson.
Sivana was summoned by the ancient wizard, Shazam when he was a kid, but was rejected. Since then, he spent most of his life unlocking magical powers by studying about them. Shazam! is based on Billy Batson, a guy who finds out that everyone has an inner superhero among us. Billy gets shortlisted by Shazam, who gifts him his powers. All Billy has to do is to utter the word ‘Shazam!’ The moment he says it, the 14-year-old kid transforms into an adult with a Superhero Suit. However, his mindset is still that of a 14-year-old. Basically a teen trapped in a grown man’s body. In an older trailer, Shazam could be seen honing his skills and finding out about his powers.
Shazam reportedly is among the oldest comic book superheroes. He had made his debut in 1939. Shazam is actually an acronym for the ‘immortal elders’ viz Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury. In short, Shazam has the power of each of these mythical beings. The film is scheduled for a release on April 5.Read More
