Nicole Kidman has given a rare insight into her relationship with eldest daughter Isabella and son Connor. The Big Little Lies star doesn't share details about her adopted adult children she has with her ex-husband Tom Cruise very often, but in a recent interview with Vanity Fair spoke about their lives.
Indicating that she keeps in contact with both, Nicole, 51, revealed that Bella, 26, "feels more English" after choosing to reside in London with her husband Max Parker. Nicole, who shared that her two eldest had English accents when they were younger, also added that her son Connor, 24, lives in Miami. The Academy Award winner, who also has daughters Sunday, ten, and Faith, eight, with her husband of 13 years, Keith Urban, opened up about her family. "Bella lives just outside London," Nicole said about her t-shirt designer daughter.
"You know, she really feels more English. We lived there for Eyes Wide Shut, Mission Impossible, and The Portrait of a Lady. They both had English accents when they were little," she said. Nicole last spoke of her two eldest children back in 2018, amid rumours of a rift after she snubbed them in an Emmys acceptance speech thanking her family when she addressed their commitment to Scientology.
Following their parents split in 2001 after 11 years of marriage, Bella, then eight, and her brother Connor, who is set to get married to his Scientologist fiancé this year, remained with their dad who retained full custody. It was reported in March that Nicole has been banned by Tom from their son's wedding.
Nicole said of her "very private" relationship with them to Australia's Who Magazine, "They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions." The actress then went on, "They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them."
"And I am an example of that tolerance and that's what I believe - that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I'm open here." She explained, "I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it's what my purpose is."
Bella's life recently came to light after she spoke out in support of scientology, of which her famous dad is a follower, revealing the religious belief has had a huge bearing on her life. Tom, 56, who is a devout follower of scientology and also has daughter Suri, 12, with Katie Holmes, would take his children to the church's summer camps and be schooled in the religion which speaks of attaining 'spiritual freedom'.
Recently Bella praised the church of scientology for 'saving her'. In a letter shared with church members, the 26-year-old said she is training as an auditor and will be helping to spread the word about scientology, which was brought to public prominence by her father. Hollywood star Cruise is still a high-ranking scientologist and it looks as though Bella wants to continue in her dad's footsteps.Read More
