One of the most celebrated Hollywood Award shows – The Academy Awards, popularly known as Oscars, has commenced with a bang. While everyone is making it a appoint to turn heads with their flashy yet fabulous appearances, Popstar Lady Gaga has chosen to roll in a rather retro style. Lady Gaga chose to don a stunning black, strapless Alexander McQueen gown and paired it up with a matching set of leather gloves. But wait, there's more to it! It’s not her dramatic gown that caught our attention.
The singer-turned-movie star opted for one of the most historical pieces of jewellery in the history of Hollywood. She wore a 128.54 carat, boasting 82 facets, Tiffany & Co diamond, which is apparently a priceless entity. It was first discovered in South Africa around 140 years ago by the founder of Tiffany & Co, Charles Lewis Tiffany. “Lady Gaga is the ultimate creator, innovator and the rule breaker, and I am thrilled that she will be wearing the legendary Tiffany Diamond on the awards show red carpet for the first time since it was discovered 141 years ago,” said Reed Krakoff, Artistic Officer of Tiffany & Co. in a statement to People. Well, Gaga isn’t the only one to wear a Tiffany diamond, earlier in 1962, Audrey Hepburn wore an elegant yellow stone in publicity photos for her popular 1961 film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Were we expecting anything less? It’s Gaga, after all! Trust the iconic singer to rise beyond our expectations, every time she aims to do so. That also reminds us that the Shallow singer, who has been nominated for Best Actress and Best Song at the Oscars, has bagged the Best Song for Shallow. YAY!Catch all the Oscar 2019 LIVE updates here.
