Police reveal Jussie Smollett staged his attack for a salary hike
The Chicago Police spokesperson held a press briefing later in the day to divulge details of Jussie Smollete’s questioning.
The Jussie Smollet case is getting uglier by the day. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the actor turned himself in on to the Chicago Police on Thursday morning for staging his own homophobic attack. The Chicago Police arrested the ‘Empire’ star on a class 4 felony charge for falsifying a police report. Smollet confessed to having done the heinous act in an attempt to get a salary hike. The Chicago Police spokesperson held a press briefing later in the day to divulge details of Smollet’s questioning.
During the press conference, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson spoke of Smollet’s attack as a ‘hoax’ and ‘shameful… publicity stunt’. "When we discovered the actual motive, quite frankly, it pissed everybody off," said Eddie who added that the department was treating Smollett like a victim until then.
Smollet appeared in court on Thursday afternoon for a hearing on this case. The judge has set his bond at $100,000 and ordered him to submit his passport to the court. Posting the necessary $10,000, Smollett walked out of jail soon after the hearing. He headed to his black SUV amidst a swarm of reporters. Smollett or his spokesperson/s are yet to make a comment on the case.
